Delica's vs. Seed Beads.. What's the difference?

Posted by Jackie Moore on

Have you ever had a project in mind, so vivid you could imagine it in your head? But you've had to stop and think.. Hmm, should I use Delica's..? Or Seed Beads? Well, We are here to help you figure it out!

What are Seed Beads?

Seed Beads are typically small, rounded, glass beads known for their amazing color & finish! They are usually used in beautiful floral patterns, traditional beadwork, free form weaving and textured designs like medallions & fringe earrings.

What are Delica Beads?

Delica Beads are made in Japan, they are known for their tubular shape, and they are very uniform which makes them perfect for projects such as peyote stitch, brick stitch, loom work, and patterns requiring precise alignment, producing a flat, uniform surface. Delicas are commonly more costly than seed beads because of how they are made.

Here is an example of seed beads on a beaded rope lanyard, they do sit well together and you can see the rounded shape, the beautiful colors and finish.
