Our Story

The Busy Beaver began with a simple hobby, a love of beading, and one very honest reason...

"So I could buy more beads for myself... and look at all the pretty beads, and see and be near beads all the time!!"

In 2012, Jackie began selling cabochons through her Facebook page simply because she loved everything about beading. What started as a personal passion quickly grew into something much bigger as more and more customers discovered her products and shared her excitement for the craft.

By 2020, that little hobby had grown enough to become The Busy Beaver, complete with its own website and a growing online community of beaders from across Canada. Then, in 2023, another dream became reality when The Busy Beaver opened its storefront in Leslieville, Alberta.

Today, what started with just Jackie has grown into a wonderful team of dedicated employees who work together to serve customers across Canada and the United States. Every order is packed with care, every message is answered by a real person, and every product on our shelves has been chosen with creativity and quality in mind.

Jackie

Owner & Founder

Jackie turned her love of beading into a business that's grown far beyond what she ever imagined. When she isn't surrounded by beads, you'll likely find her baking something delicious, spending time with her three amazing dogs, or out on the golf course. She still loves discovering beautiful new beads just as much as she did when she first started.

Cathy

Cathy loves spending time with her grandbaby, tending to her garden, and looking after her chickens. She brings kindness, patience, and a warm smile to everything she does.

Chelsea

Chelsea enjoys hunting for treasures while thrifting and loves getting creative through knitting and crocheting. She always appreciates a good handmade project.

Kayla

Kayla has a passion for restoring fossils and has a big love for animals. Her curiosity and attention to detail make her a wonderful part of our team.

Bobbi-jo

Bobbi-jo enjoys spending time outdoors and has a special love for animals. She's always happy to lend a helping hand wherever it's needed.

Oryon

Oryon loves spending time with her dogs and listening to music. She brings great energy and positivity to the Busy Beaver family every day.

Caron

Caron has a soft spot for wiener dogs and enjoys spending her free time beading. She loves being part of a team that shares her appreciation for creativity and beautiful beads. 

Dakota

Dakota has a passion for horses and enjoys all things technology. Whether helping behind the scenes or working with the team, Dakota brings enthusiasm and a willingness to learn every day.
